Bills Passed by Maharashtra Government will provide 27% reservation to the other backward classes

On Friday 24th of November 2021 the Maharashtra Legislative Council released two bills that are going to provide an average of 27% to the Other Backward Classes {OBC} in the Rural and Urban local bodies in the state.

The state government has earlier issued some other laws which have given reservation to the Other Backward Classes in the local bodies. The laws were then kept in no action by the Supreme Court.

Hasan Mushrif the Minister of Rural Development was given the responsibility to list the bills which were cleared by the Legislative assembly on Thursday.

Due to the stay of the bills granted by the Supreme Court, the highest court of the Country now there will be no reservation for the Other Backward Classes in the upcoming local body polls.

Know why the state government has promulgate some laws

To alter the Maharashtra Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samitis act 1961 along with the Maharashtra Village Panchayat act for Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samiti and Gram Panchayats to make sure that the candidates belonging to the caste of OBC will get 27 Percent quota the state government has broadcasted some laws on 23rd of September 2021.
