Extended the Controversial Law AFSPA by The Nagaland Government

The Government authorities of Nagaland have taken a decision to extend the most controversial law of the state AFSPA (the armed forces special power act). The AFSPA is extended by the government for a period of another 6 months.

Know what AFSPA

AFSPA or the armed forces special power act is an act launched by the Parliament of India which gives some special powers to the Armed Forces of India for the purpose of maintaining public order in disturbed areas.

The rights groups of Nagaland and also the state Government of the state were making requests to the central government of the state for the purpose of withdrawing the laws of AFSPA. After the terrible incident that happened on 4th of December 2021 when the Para special forces killed 13 civilians by mistake in the way when they were returning home from their workplace, the anti AFSPA calls have become powerful. A soldier was also killed in a sudden attack by the villagers after they had surrounded the militants in anger.
