Dehradun Faces Nature’s Fury
Heavy rains lashed Dehradun and its suburbs, causing catastrophic flooding and landslides that had killed at least five people with 20 more missing as of Sunday evening. Rescue teams on high alert are pulling day and night to find the missing and evacuate those stranded in affected areas.

The heavy rains have also caused roads to buckle and homes to be reduced to rubble, cutting off communities from the outside world. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are conducting massive rescue operations. Authorities have warned people to stay indoors and avoid travel if possible

Local governments are working with state disaster relief agencies to deliver goods and establish temporary accommodations. Rations, drinking water and medicines are being provided to the affected families

Meanwhile, many routes have been affected. A bridge at Maldevta was washed away, disrupting traffic, and the flow of debris has blocked several sections of the Mussoorie Dehradun Road. The police, along with other departments, are working to clear the route.
The district administration has, however, advised tourists traveling to Mussoorie not to use the road until it is reopened. A portion of the bridge in Premnagar on the Dehradun paonta National Highway has collapsed, resulting in complete disruption of traffic on this route.
