On 17 September 2025, during his 75th birthday celebrations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan (Healthy Women, Empowered Family Campaign) in Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh. The launch coincided with the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah (National Nutrition Month).

A Nationwide Health Outreach: What It Means

This campaign is the largest health outreach for women and children in India. Over 10 lakh health camps will take place at government health facilities, community centers, district hospitals, and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs from 17 September to 2 October 2025.

When: 17 September to 2 October 2025. Where: Dhar in Madhya Pradesh for the launch, with health camps throughout all states and Union Territories. Services & Focus Areas: – Preventive, promotional, and curative health services for women and children

Screening and early detection of diseases like anemia, non-communicable diseases (such as diabetes and hypertension), cancers, tuberculosis, and sickle cell disease

Maternal and child health services: antenatal care, immunization, nutrition, menstrual hygiene, and awareness of lifestyle and mental health. Free tests and medicines, sickle cell screening cards, and community mobilization

Goals & Life Lessons from the Initiative

Women’s health as foundation: As PM Modi stated, “If a mother is healthy, the whole family stays healthy.” This campaign highlights that idea.

Early detection saves lives: By promoting screenings for serious diseases early, the initiative aims to lower illness and death rates.

Inclusive outreach: Special focus is on tribal, rural, and marginalized groups. For instance, Ladakh in Leh and Kargil, along with Nagaland, are also starting health camps under this campaign.

The integration of health, nutrition, and preventive care builds stronger families and communities.

How States & Local Bodies Are Participating

In Leh (Ladakh), the Lieutenant Governor launched health camps and educational awareness programs, along with cancer screening as part of this campaign.

Nagaland is expanding the outreach across several health centers, focusing on child health, and screening for both non-communicable and communicable diseases, as well as menstrual hygiene

In Uttar Pradesh, the campaign includes increasing smartphones and honorariums for Anganwadi workers, along with free tests and maternal care.
