Whatsapp Chats and Pics on Phone Helped to Crack Pulwama Attack: NIA

The charge-sheet contains of 13,500 sheets with 19 accused and the details of the planning and execution of the deadliest terror attacks in Kashmir last year were done from Pakistan, by Jaish-e-Mohammad’s Masood Azhar. Six names by the NIA were eliminated while seven have been arrested and five are still missing in which three of them were from Pakistan, according to NIA.

More than 40 soldiers were killed when a suicide bomber rammed his car which was full of explosives into a security convoy on 14th February last year at Pulwama. The terror-attack leads in the Air Force striking a Jaish training area in Pakistan’s Balakot and an air-battle along the Line-of-Control.


The main conspirator was Jaish terrorist Mohd Umar Farooq. son of Ibrahim Akhtar, the accused in IC 814 hijack of 1999. Ibrahim Athar is the older brother of Jaish’s Masood Azhar, the investigators said.

The charge-sheet claims that 20 Kg of RDX was brought from Pakistan in Jammu via Samba by Umar Farooq, who got killed by the special forces in Kashmir in March this year. Other explosives were procured by an e-commerce platform. The bulky NIA documents contains all the phone recordings and also the whatsapp chats including the photos of the explosives, RDX being transported found in the phone of Umar Farooq. The photographs of the three terrorists who were fabricating the bomb that was used in Pulwama are revealed.

The charge-sheet claims that after Pulwama the terrorists had planned to carry out another attack. They even arranged a car and suicide bombers but were scotch by the Indian Air Strikers in Balakot. The case by NIA rests on the material and technical evidence to establish the link between the local operatives and the handlers of Jaish in Pakistan.

The recordings of video and audio of Masood Azhar praising Pulwama Attack are also filed in the charge-sheet. Other digital imprints like the Telegram group that had a post claiming the attack indicating “100 Soldiers(Hindu) were destroyed and killed”.

More investigations are carried on to bring the case to the next level.
