2020 is the first and the only year in more than a decade without a single Marvel studio movie release. But the year is meant to aide in Phase 4 of the Marvel-Cinematic universe, the effects of the real worldwide pandemic has affected the production of the company as the release dates have to deal with theatre shutdown, safety norms, and production slowdown.
But as we all know Pandemic is now showing its effects in the form of waves, though Black Widow finally debuted in theatres at the beginning of the July, and Loki meanwhile, showing its domination in the OTT platform and dominates the trending of twitter around the globe proving the wisdom of Marvel studios branching into internet. At least from the standpoint, Phase 4 is a great success.
Beyond that, the horizon includes some interesting addition to Marvel Cinematic Universe, like Mahershala Ali as Blade, Tatiana Maslany as She-Hulk, and the Revival of the Marvel first family, The Fantastic Four. (Finally confirmed by Marvel studio Head Kevin Feige at Disney’s internet breaking Investor day in December 2020). There are the 5 projects Marvel announced and dated. They represent the entirely of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s forth phase and introduced a number of sequel- but at least a new concept will likely to emerge will become a new Marvel’s obsession.
1. SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGENDS OF THE TEN RINGS:
Release Date: September 3, 2021
Key Details: In March of 2019, Short term 12’s director Destin Daniel Cretton emerged as the director of a film based on Marvel’s 1970s comic book the hands of Shang-chi: Master of Kang-Fu. In the comic book, Shang-chi was the son of legendary villain Fu Manchu, knowing the truth about his father’s work, he used his martial arts skills against his father and other Marvel villains ready to battle with his deadly hands.
But considering Fu Manchu is the only few known IPO’s not owned by Walt Disney Company, fans online are already supposing that Shang-Chi’s father whom marvel has already turned into another immortal villain in the comics- may turn out to be the “real Mandarin” teased in the Iron man 3 Blue-Ray short film “All Hail The King”.

MCU PLOTS: Teased in Iron Man, but never continued to fruition as the infinity saga took shape, the Ten Ring is a crime league plotted across the world but owing allegiance to no country. This series may give Shang-Chi a nice international hype with an established MCU footprint. Also, the ten rings the Mandarin wear have cosmic powers which may play into the larger Phase 4 story and elevate the plot points for the upcoming Marvel series in 2021-2022.
2. Eternal:
Release Date: November 5, 2021
Key Details: In April of 2018, Marvel Studios President Kevin Fiege presented a film based on the Eternals comic book and concept was in making. Soon after, The Rider’s Chloe Zhao became its director. Based on character and scenario planned by Jack Kirby, the Eternals are a race of massively powerful proto-human created by the Celestials to harness huge amount of “Cosmic energy”. Generation of squabbling and war against another celestial species called “The Deviants”. The film will portray on an Eternal named Sersi (Gemma Chan) with the power of fight, strength, immortality and molecular manipulation.
Cast member which are finalized are Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanijain as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brain Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Angelina Jolie as Thena and Kit Harington as Dane Whitman – a.k.a. the Black Knight. The film also introduce Marvel’s first real try to include a gay character as Henry’s Phastos will be married to a man and raising alongside him.

MCU Plots: As the Eternals and Celestials are ancient and powerful – the celestials are few of the oldest creature in the universe – they are associated with almost everyone. When Kree gone to learn about the Eternals, they attempted to copy the celestials experiment and created inhuman in earth. In Marvel’s 616 universe, Thanos is himself related to Eternals all thanks to their colonization of Titan in the distant past. Meanwhile, the celestial are already been teased on passing during both of Guardian Movies. One appear in a hologram during The Collector’s (Benicio Del) explanation of the power stone. And in the second film, Peter Quill’s (Chris Pratt) father Ego (Kurt Russell) self-identified as a celestial.
3. Spider-Man: No Way Home:
Release Date: December 17, 2021
Key Details: After a thrilling 2019 summer in which we got to see, Spider-Man would jump out of the MCU again to face off against Venom (Tom Hardy), Sony Pictures and Walt Disney Studios decided to produce a third film with Tom Holland as Spider-Man. While all the details of the studios new agreement are yet to be revealed. Beyond that Disney reportedly increasing share of the profit to 25%-we do know Spidey will appear in one additional MCU outside of his third solo film.
But in another twist of fate, the current situation of first part will be acknowledged in Sony’s upcoming Morbius, a film set in its spider-verse and completely separate from the MCU. Initially, slated for a July 2021 release, the third Marvel Spider-Man film are planned to be landed on a December 2021 (for now).
MCU Plots: Nick Fury has got some plans for Peter but will he be able to set everything in motion before Sony calls him back to the Spider-Verse? Considering the film will come under MCU Phase 4 slots so one can imagine that they will push the storyline even as Peter clear his name. It almost has to considering how precious his existence in the MCU continues to be. But with one additional appearance guaranteed after the third film, maybe the Phase 5 storyline will revolve around his multiverse uncertainty.
