The leader of 12 most major opposition parties has written a joint letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi with nine suggestions that they request should be implemented on a ‘mobilization’ to tackle the pandemic situation due to COVID-19 virus in the country.
Central acquirement of vaccine from all available sources and halting construction of the central vista project are among the suggestion made by the 12 opposition leaders.

The leaders has also blamed that the government has been consistently ignored or refused suggestion and the recommendation from the opposition.
Signatories to the letter includes Sonia Gandhi (Congress), Sharad Pawar (NCP), Uddhav Thackeray (Shiv Sena), Mamata Banerjee (TMC), MK Stalin (DMK) SitaramYechury (CPM).
Some of the key suggestion in the letter include are:
- Central acquirement of vaccine from all available sources – global and domestic.
- Free, universal mass vaccination across the country should be started immediately.
- Invoke compulsory licensing to expand domestic vaccine production.
- Spend budgetary allocation of Rs.35,000crores for vaccination all over the country.
- Stop construction under central vista projects and indulge more money in procuring oxygen and vaccine.
- Free distribution of the food grains and essentials to the needy.
Give all jobless who their jobs due to pandemic at least Rs.6,000 per month.
The leaders also stated that the Centre ignoring suggestions from the opposition has contributed in worsening the situation of the country due to pandemic.
