Breaking News: Increased gap between 2 doses of Covishield“Reasonable Approach”, India must get as many people Vaccinated: Anthony Fauci

Dramatically raising up of COVID-19 vaccination drive is key to tackle the crisis in India and extending the gap between the doses of Covishield is ‘reasonable Approach’, White House Chief Medical Adviser Dr Anthony Fauci told ANI in an exclusive interview on Thursday.

“When you are in a very difficult situation, the way you are in India, you have to try and figure out way to get as many people vaccinated as quickly as you can, so I believe that it is a reasonable approach to do”, Fauci said.

On Thursday, the government of India announced that the gap between the first and second doses of the Covishield COVID-19 vaccine has been extended to 12–16 weeks from the existing 6-8 weeks. This is for the second in three month that Covishield dosages intervals have been extended and this move has once again garnered criticism, as a cover-up for not having adequate amount of vaccine for the people in India. However, DrFauci said that this “increased interval” is beneficial even from the efficacy standpoint.

“The fact that you delay it that long, it is very unlikely that it would have a negative effect on the Efficacy of the vaccine. I would not refer to it as a cover up when you don’t have enough vaccine”, Fauci told ANI. India is most likely to call out Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine against the coronavirus to be administered to citizens starting next week. With this, India will now have three vaccines to boost its mega vaccination drive which was recently opened for those above 18 years. When asked about the efficacy of the Sputnik V Vaccine, “I’ve heard about the Sputnik, is that it seems to be quite Efficacious at a high level of close to 90% or so,” Fauci responded.

Israel-Gaza : Fear of war as the violence Prevails

As now 53 Palestinian and six Israelis have been killed since Monday.

That includes 14 Palestinian children caught up in the conflict between the two countries.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he was “gravely concerned” by the ongoing violence.

Violent occurs in towns in Israel with mixed Jewish and Arab population has led to hundred of arrests. Lod near Aviv is under a state of emergency.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Government would use all its strength to protect Israel from enemies on the outside and Rioters in the inside.

What had caused the Violence between them?

The fighting between Israel and Hamas was triggered on day of increasing clashes between Palestinian and Israelis police at a hilltop compound in East Jerusalem.

The site is taken by both Muslim, who call it the Haran al-Sharif (Noble Sanctuary) and Jews for whom it is known as the Temple Mount. Hamas demanded to remove police from there and the nearby areas of Arab District of ShiekhJarrah, where Palestinian families faced eviction by Jewish settlers. Hamas launched rockets when its ultimatum is disagreed.

Palestinian anger had already been fir3d by two weeks of rising tension in East Jerusalem, inflamed by a series of confrontation with police since the start of Islamic holy month of Ramadan in mid-April.

It was further fired by the threaten eviction of the Palestinian families from their homes in East Jerusalem by Jewish settlers and Israel’s annual celebration of its capture of East Jerusalem in the 1967 Middle east war, Known as Jerusalem day.

The fate of the city, with its deep religious and national significance to both sides, lies at the heart of the decade – old Israel’s – Palestinian conflict. Israel in effect Conquer East Jerusalem in 1980and consider the entire city its capital, though this is not recognized by the vast majority of the other countries.

Palestinian claims the eastern half of Jerusalem as the capital of hoped-for state of their own.
