New Delhi: “Yoga”, the great gift to the world, said by President Ram Nath Kovind as he shared some of the pictures in regard to the International Yoga Day, where he was exercising.

President tweeted, “Greetings on #InternatonalYogaDay”. The ancient science behind Yoga is the greatest gift to the world and I am glad to see more people adopting it, he said. Amid strife and stress with the pandemic #COVID-19, practicing of Yoga helps the body to keep it fit and the mind serene, he tweeted.

The Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu also shared some of his pictures doing Yoga. In his message, he said that Yoga helps in improving the mental and the physical stress of an individual. Vice-President appealed to all his countrymen for practicing Yoga and Meditation at home to stay fit and healthy.

Yoga is an ancient mental, physical, and spiritual practice that has been originated in India. The word “Yoga” has been derived from the Sanskrit terminology, which means to join and unite. It symbolizes the unity of body and consciousness according to the UN. Yoga Day aims to create awareness worldwide of its number of benefits.

The theme of this year is “Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family”. Yoga, for the first time, was coined and institutes on June 21, 2015, and now is marked as the digital event.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses the nation and urged the people across the country to practice Yoga in order to boost their immunity at this time where over 4 lakh people are affected by COVID-19.

PM Modi said “COVID-19 attacks the respiratory system and what makes our respiratory system stronger is “Pranayama”, which is an exercise of breathing. Anulom, Vilom are the basic and popular “Pranayama” techniques and we should practice it as a daily routine. There are a number of exercises which boost the immunity and strengthen the metabolism”.
