Delhi Capitals secured a comfortable six-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants
at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, chasing down a target of 142 with 17 balls remaining.
Delhi finished at 145/4 in 17.1 overs to begin their campaign on a strong note.
Lucknow Super Giants had a disappointing start with the bat as KL Rahul was dismissed
for a golden duck on the very first ball. The early setback triggered a collapse,
with wickets falling at regular intervals. Mitchell Marsh scored 35 and Abdul Samad
added 36, but the team struggled to build partnerships and were eventually bowled out
for 141 in 18.4 overs.
Delhi’s bowling attack played a crucial role in restricting Lucknow. T Natarajan and
Lungi Ngidi were the standout performers, picking up three wickets each and maintaining
pressure throughout the innings.
In response, Delhi Capitals also faced early trouble, slipping to 21/2. However,
Sameer Rizvi produced a match-winning unbeaten knock of 70 runs off 47 balls.
He was well supported by Tristan Stubbs, who remained unbeaten on 39. The pair
stitched together a crucial 119-run partnership that guided Delhi to victory.
