Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Thursday declared that his company name will be now known as Meta or Meta Platform for user. The new platform will bring all the apps and software together under one brand name. But if you are a Facebook user there is nothing to worry this doesn’t changes anything for you. The same is true for all other associative apps such as Instagram and WhatsApp. The website will continue to repeat its old name and function.Â

Declaring the new company name, Zuckerberg said, “Today we are seen as a social media company, but in our DNA we are a company that builds technology to connect people, and the metaverse is the next frontier just like social networking was when we got started.”
Facebook’s name change brings a lot of confusion about whether the social media app would change anything for the user or not. The answer is absolutely not. Facebook would remain the way same as it was for its user before Zuckerberg has announced the new brand name. There will be absolutely no change in the algorithm of the app and how it works. No new features and design has been added and the parameters to use would also remain same for the users. Similarly, the name would not affect the other Facebook-associated apps including WhatsApp and Instagram. They will not have any “meta” in them.
“Our apps and their brand aren’t changing either. We’re still the company that designs technology around people,” Zuckerberg added.
Zuckerberg didn’t want Facebook to be that old social media app that people only use for chatting. Facebook now wants to be known as a reliable company with a lot of product and apps in its arsenal. In his Founder’s letter, Zuckerberg said that the new platform will be even more hyperactive, user will able to do almost anything they can imagine. He said that the people can all together with friend and family work, learn, play, shop and create on this all new Meta platform.
Zuckerberg also disclosed his plans of including crypto and NFT into its platform and also ensured that the privacy and security of user will be given most priority.
“Privacy and safety need to be built into the metaverse for day one. So do open standard and interoperability. This will require not just novel technical work – like supporting crypto and NFT’s projects in the community – but also new form of governance. Most of all, we need to build ecosystem so that more people have a stake in the future and can benefit not just s consumer but as creators,” Zuckerberg stated in his letter.
