Growing of Intolerance in Judiciary: says Supreme Court Judge – The TLC News

Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul of Supreme Court said that there was a growing of intolerance against the judiciary by the social media. He said that the blame is made against the judges for their decisions. The damage has been done to the judicial system if the tendency of criticizing crossed the limits.

“Criticism is also a kind of information but there is a need of boundary if such criticism becomes a part of the spread of misinformation and this is not good for the system. If every system is mistrust then you all just have an anarchy,” Kaul said.

Ruling on Rituals: Courts of Law and Religious Practices 

On Sunday, he said during an online lecture “Freedom of speech in times of COVID-19- Misinformation and fake news that has been organized by Madras Bar Association and by the MBA Academy. This event saw the participation of M.Bhaskar, secretary of Madras Bar Association and S.Parthasarathy, chairman of MBA Academy.

Supreme Court’s Justice Kaul was a part of Bench that recently took suo motu cognizance of migrant workers’ crisis. The Bench saw the Solicitor General of India, Tushar Mehta submits how “a handful of people giving certificates to the judges of neutrality only if the judges abuse the Executive!” in the recent hearing. Kaul said “fake news propensity has increased, creating a sense of hostility against the identifiable groups before the country has saw the onset of the pandemic.

Kaul said that there was a lot of information available during COVID-19, including its remedies, the origin and the people who were helping in the spread of the virus. These messages even take on racial and religious undertones. Kaul added that people do not give effort to know about the information sent on social media and forward it mindlessly, creating panic and triggering hate at this difficult time when people are worried about their livelihood and the need of basic essentials.

He had noted an overall intolerance that has exceeded its limits. People directly rush to the courts if anything was found contrary to their belief and religion.For the latest updates, stay tuned to The TLC News
