India, China: General-Level Talk on the Border Disengagement

New Delhi (India): There is a talk between the senior army commanders of China and India on Saturday to the disengagement process along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) at the number of friction points including the Depsang in eastern Ladakh and Daulat Baig Oldi, people that are familiar with the developments as said.

The General-Level talks are being held in Daulat Baig Oldi area on the Chinese side LAC, the sources said. The meeting comes a week after the armies held the 5th round of Corps commander-level (Lieutenant General) discussions to disengagement process.

At the military talks, the Indian sides are insisting on the complete disengagement of the Chineses troops at the earliest possible and the immediate restoration of the status quo ante in the areas of eastern Ladakh in the starting of 5th May when the stand-off clash between the two armies in Pangong.

The Chinese Army had pulled back from the Galwan Valley and also from other frictional points but the withdrawal of the troops has not cleared the finger areas in Pangong Tso, cand the area of Depsang. according to the sources.

India is continuously insisting that China must withdraw the forces from areas between finger Four to Eight.

The process of disengagement of the Chinese troops began from July 6th, a day after two hours of telephonic conversation between the National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to bring down the tensions on LAC. Both side had hold General-Talks in the month of May and June to have some negotiations.

Upon considering the situation on the ground, the Indian Army and The India Air Force have decided to maintain a high level of operational readiness along LAC in Ladakh, North Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Uttrakhand till the satisfactory resolution has arrived.

General Manoj Mukund Narvane, the Army Chief has conveyed the message to all the senior commanders, overseeing the operation of the frontline information along the LAC, to maintain the high level of alertness and maintain aggressive posturing.

The Indian army has already made a detailed plan to maintain the current strength of the troop and the weapons along LAC during harsh winter months and the other sensitive areas along LAC.
