Mumbai’s Early Collapse & The Tilak-Naman Rescue Act

Opting to bowl first, RCB’s bowling attack got off to a flying start. Veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismantled Mumbai’s top order with exceptional swing bowling, striking in the very first over to dismiss opener Ryan Rickelton for just 2. Former captain Rohit Sharma showed aggressive intent with a quick-fire 22 off 10 balls (including 2 fours and 2 sixes) before falling victim to Bhuvneshwar as well, while star batsman Suryakumar Yadav departed for a golden duck.

Reeling at 31/3, MI found solace in Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir, who engineered an 82-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Dhir missed out on a well-deserved half-century, scoring 47 off 32 balls (5 fours, 2 sixes). Varma played a captain’s anchor role, scoring a resilient 57 off 42 balls (3 fours, 2 sixes). Bhuvneshwar Kumar returned to break the partnership, finishing with stellar figures of 4 for 23 to restrict MI to 166/7.

RCB’s Chase: Krunal’s Valiant Fifty Overcomes Kohli’s Duck

Chasing 167, RCB endured a nightmare start. Legend Virat Kohli was dismissed for a golden duck (0) in the very first over. Devdutt Padikkal (12) and captain Rajat Patidar (8) fell shortly after, leaving RCB struggling at 47/3 by the end of the Powerplay.

With the game slipping away, Krunal Pandya played a heroic and memorable innings. Battling severe muscle cramps, Krunal smashed 73 off 46 balls, clubbing 4 boundaries and 5 sixes. He built a vital partnership with Jacob Bethell (27) to bring RCB back into the game, with Jitesh Sharma also making a valuable cameo of 18 runs. However, MI’s Corbin Bosch bowled beautifully to pick up 4 wickets for 26 runs, keeping Mumbai in the hunt by dismissing Jitesh and Tim David (0) on back-to-back deliveries.

Last-Over Absolute Drama: RCB needed 15 runs off the final over, with Raj Bawa trusted to bowl. After Romario Shepherd (4) was dismissed, the equation came down to 10 off the final 3 balls. Bhuvneshwar Kumar cleared his front leg and launched a monstrous, match-defining six over extra cover on the fourth ball. He took a single on the fifth ball, leaving Rasikh Salam to face the final delivery with 2 runs needed. Rasikh hit it straight back to Bawa, who parried it to long-on, allowing the batters to run a frantic double and dive safely home.
