Putting an end to days of speculation, Bollywood actress and entrepreneur Shilpa Shetty Kundra has confirmed that her popular restaurant, Bastian Bandra, has officially closed. The news was shared in an emotional farewell note on social media, where she referred to the closure as “the end of an era.” This marks a significant development for one of Mumbai’s most iconic celebrity dining destinations, known for its gourmet seafood and vibrant atmosphere.
Bastian’s New Chapter: A Move to Juhu and a New South Indian Eatery
The closure of the Bandra outlet is not the end of the Bastian brand. Shilpa Shetty has announced a major transformation and expansion plan that includes two new restaurants:
- Bastian Beach Club: The beloved Bastian brand will relocate to a new, much larger space in Juhu. This move promises an upgraded and grander experience for its patrons.
- Ammakai: The iconic Bandra location will be replaced by a new culinary venture called Ammakai, a restaurant dedicated to celebrating pure South Indian, Mangalorean cuisine, a tribute to Shilpa Shetty’s own roots.
Addressing the Rumors: A Transformation, Not a Closure
The timing of the announcement, which coincided with reports of a ₹60 crore fraud case against Shilpa Shetty and her husband, Raj Kundra, had fueled rumors of a forced closure. However, Shetty’s clarification and the announcement of her new ventures aim to emphasize that this is a strategic business decision to evolve the brand and explore new culinary concepts, rather than a retreat. The Bastian at the Top location will continue to operate as usual, further reinforcing that the brand is not disappearing.
