Twitter says working ‘On putting things back to normal’ as user face disturbance

Twitter services were disrupted on Thursday with many users reporting complaints while posting,
searching and sharing content via the micro-blogging site. “Something went wrong. Try reloading”, a
search on the social networking site showed.

“Profile’ Tweets may not be loading for some of you on the web and we’re currently working on a fix.
Thanks for sticking with us!” Twitter said.

“Tweets should now be visible on profile but other parts of twitter for web may not be loading for

you. We’re continuing to work on “Putting things back to normal“, the social media hub said on
another tweet.

According to Blackout monitoring website Down detector, more than 6,000 user complaints indicate
the issue with twitter, about 93% of those being related to this micro-blogging website.

Meanwhile, the government and twitter has been in long dispute for the last few months over
several issues, including a statement made by company officials over freedom of speech in India.
The biggest flashpoint aroused when twitter failed to fully match the new digital rules has imposed
which came into force last month.

Twitter had earlier blamed the government of “dangerous overreach” and claimed that they were
forced to withhold the portion of “Legitimate free speech”. The government has strongly reacted on
this issue by charging the company on maneuvering the law of the land and trying to ‘manipulate’
the terms.

The new IT rules for the social media companies instructed large companies such Facebook, Google
and Twitter to undertake due diligence and make the social media platform more accountable and
responsible of the content posted by them.

The rules also requires significant social media protocols- providing assistants primarily in the area of
messaging- to enable identification of the “first originator” of the information to protect the
sovereignty of the country, the security of the state and to avoid the circulation of Fake news.
